4 Discounts and Deals Walt Disney World Guests Can Take Advantage of Right Now

 Reported by Theme Park Tourist…..

We expect a lot of things to change at the Walt Disney World resort in the coming months in response to the soft attendance that we saw at Walt Disney World this summer. However, while it will be months before we see the full effect of the attendance downturn of 2016, one side effect that we have seen almost immediately happen across the theme parks and Disney Springs has been the addition of a number of discounts, as well as limited time deals for certain groups of Disney guests.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, most of these deals involve dining at Walt Disney World (which is one of the easiest places Disney can “cut” without hurting profits too much), but there is one exception (which we’ll get to in a moment). If you are going to Walt Disney World in the near future (and especially if you are eating at the resort), here are some easy ways you can save some money right now that you should know about.

1. Four additional Walt Disney World restaurants added to Tables in Wonderland discount program

Unfortunately the Tables in Wonderland discount program has been downsized quite a bit recently, and many guests have been crunching the numbers in the past few years to see if this discount card is still worth investing in despite its shrinking list of participating restaurants and rising membership costs. However, those who are still a part of this program may be surprised to know that it actually got a bit of an upgrade a few days ago. The Tables in Wonderland discount program has now been expanded to include four of Walt Disney World’s newest dining locations at the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney Springs:

  • Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar
  • Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen
  • Nomad Lounge
  • Tiffins
This change has gone into effect immediately, and guests can now use their discount cards at these table and quick service locations around the resort.

2. Free dining offered as part of 2017 bounceback offer

Disney has recently confirmed that it is now offering resort guests a very interesting new “bounceback” offer that includes a length-of-stay free standard dining plan for guests that book at least a seven-night stay during select dates in 2017. If you’re unfamiliar with the terminology, a bounceback deal is offered to guests currently staying at a Walt Disney World hotel and gives these guests access to special deals (or in this case, free dining) for those who book their next Disney trip (and put down at least a $200 deposit) before checking out of their hotel on their current trip (in effect, “bouncing back” to the resort).

This current bounceback deal will be offered to guests staying on property now through Oct. 31, 2016 and is valid for guests who are traveling back to the resort between May 30th and December 20th, 2017, with the following black-out dates:

  • June 7 – 29, 2017
  • July 6 – August 10, 2017
  • Sept. 10 – December 7, 2017

This deal extends to all resort guests currently staying on property with the following exclusions:

  • The Fort Wilderness Campsites
  • All-Star Movies 3-bedroom villas
  • Port Orleans (Riverside and French Quarter)
  • All villas along the Walt Disney World monorail line
  • Disney’s Art of Animation Resort – Little Mermaid rooms

In addition to the hotel requirement, guests will need to purchase at least a 2-day park hopper ticket as part of their “bounceback” vacation package to qualify for this new free dining deal.

3. Magic Kingdom quick service dining locations offer Disney Springs discount coupon

Last month Disney announced a special limited-time deal that allows guests who grab something to eat at select Magic Kingdom quick service restaurants to get a special 10% off discount coupon for use at a number of Disney Springs merchandise shops. This deal is good until the end of next month, and there is no minimum purchase required to get the coupon (you could buy a single Dole Whip and still get the 10% discount offer).

The only downside to this deal that this 10% discount does not stack with other discounts, which means that this deal is basically useless for annual passholders, DVC Members, Disney Visa cardholders or any other group that automatically gets a discount. For a list of participaring restaurants where you can recieve this coupon (as well as stores that will accept this discount), you can click here.

4. Limited-time discount for select guests offered for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney Springs

Finally, we’ve got a non-dining deal that is currently making one of the most popular upcharge experiences at Walt Disney World a little bit more affordable. To help celebrate the opening of the new Disney Springs location of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, a discount will be offered for select groups visiting this new venue behind Once Upon a Toy.

Beginning today and lasting through September 5, 2016, Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, Disney Visa Card members, and Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests will be able to take advantage of a 10% discount for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique packages. Appointments can be made by calling 407-939-7895 for guests aged 3 to 12, and this discount only applies to the Disney Springs location.

Depending on how dire Walt Disney World’s summer attendance actually has been (and we should know more about this issue specifically in just a few days when Disney releases its financial report), we’d expect that even more limited-time deals and discounts could be offered in the coming months in an effort to get guests (and especially annual passholders) back to the park and spending money again.

Do you think this tactic will work? Or do you think this is a case of too little too late? And with the annual passholder price hikes on the horizon (they typically happen in early Fall), do you think there’s a chance that Disney could possibly skip the price increases this year to keep these guests from letting their passes expire due to rising cost?
