5 Ways to Get Into the Holiday Spirit in Baltimore

With Thanksgiving fast approaching and Christmas just over one month away, there’s never been a better time to visit Baltimore, Maryland.

That’s because for travelers planning a fall or winter escape to America’s largest independent city, there’s no shortage of ways to embrace the holidays in 2016.

Pandora Ice Rink

The Pandora Ice Rink is officially open atop the Amphitheater at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.

Now through Jan. 16, adults and children can skate for just $10 and $9, respectively, while skate rentals are available for as little as $4. And visitors looking for a bite to eat can head over to the nearby Harbor Place to fill up or warm up with a coffee.

Miracle on 34th Street

Every year, 34th Street in Baltimore’s Hampden neighborhood lights up for the holidays. Beginning Nov. 26, the one-block display of world-class Christmas lights will draw visitors and residents alike.

The lights, which are guaranteed to put your neighbor’s to shame, can be seen every night through early January and will remain on all night long on Christmas Eve.

Holly Jolly Trolley Tour

Beginning Dec. 2, visitors to Baltimore can take the two-hour Holly Jolly Trolley Tour through Charm City. The journey will take guests along iconic 34th Street and an appropriately decorated George Washington Monument in Mount Vernon.

Guests staying at the upscale Royal Sonesta Harbor Court can score 15 percent off of their entire check at the on-site Explorers Restaurant with a ticket stub from the trolley tour.

Christmas Village

From Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve, the Inner Harbor’s West Shore Park will be transformed into an authentic German Christmas Village.

The indoor and outdoor holiday market will feature dozens of booths with vendors selling everything from European food, sweets and drinks to ornaments, jewelry and arts and crafts.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 4-D

Now through January 2, 2017, guests at Baltimore’s National Aquarium can experience Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 4-D.

The aquarium’s 4-D Immersion Theater combines high-definition 3-D film with sensory effects that are built into guests’ seats that include wind, snow, scents, enhanced lighting and seat vibrations, among other features.
