Alaska Airlines and Virgin America announced Wednesday that they would be introducing three new daily, non-stop services to help connect the East Coast and the West Coast.
The new flights will link Portland, Oregon, and New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport starting Nov. 6; Portland and Detroit Metropolitan Airport on Aug. 30; and Los Angeles International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport beginning Sept. 1.
“Alaska Airlines continues to expand service from our West Coast hubs by adding convenient, nonstop flights to popular destinations like New York City, Philadelphia and Detroit,” Alaska Airlines vice president John Kirby said in a statement. “Whether traveling for business or leisure, we continue to meet the needs of our valued guests with more than 800 daily flights in over 300 markets originating from the West Coast.”
Flights to New York will help connect West Coast travelers to Europe and beyond as JFK Airport is the busiest international gateway in the United States. Add in low-fare options to both Detroit and Philadelphia, and the expanded routes will provide travelers along the West Coast with viable alternatives to the current flight options.
