Beginning on Dec. 21, Delta Air Lines will offer a new daily nonstop flight between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
While the new route is still subject to United States Department of Transportation approval, the proposal will help Delta Air Lines and its partner GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes extend service in Brazil to 23 destinations through connections at Rio de Janeiro’s Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport.
For passengers traveling in the Delta Comfort+ seats, they will enjoy up to four additional inches of legroom and 50 percent more recline than Delta’s standard international Main Cabin seats. They will also be treated to free beer, wine, snacks and priority boarding.
“We listen to our customers and continuously strive to offer them increasingly convenient ways to travel, both for business and leisure,” Delta Air Lines Brazil director Luciano Macagno said in a statement. “It is exciting to have the opportunity to offer a daily direct flight from Rio de Janeiro to our second-largest international hub at New York-JFK. Delta’s continued route expansions demonstrate our commitment to the Brazilian market and the strength of our alliance with our Brazilian partner, GOL.”
As for those flying in Delta One on the new route, they will be able to enjoy a premium airport experience at the Delta Sky Club in JFK Airport’s Terminal 4 and the GOL VIP lounge located in Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport’s Terminal 2.
Here is Delta’s proposed schedule for the new route:

DL 479 | New York-JFK (JFK) at 9:24 p.m. |
Rio de Janeiro (GIG) at 10:30 a.m. |
