Another hidden gem that many guests over look is Mickey’s Back Yard BBQ at The Fort Wilderness Pavilion over at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.
According to the Disney web site;
Hootin’ Tootin’ Hoedown
Several times throughout the night, Disney Characters mingle with Guests for photos and autographs. Cowpokes may meet:
- Mickey Mouse
- Minnie Mouse
- Chip ‘n Dale
Character appearances and entertainment are subject to change.
Ready for a hoot and a holler?
Then head on over to Mickey’s Backyard BBQ over at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground!
Here you can enjoy a filling buffet, fit for any Cowboy or Cowgirl while listening to their country band and participating in line dancing, rope tricks and all sort of fun activities for both the kids AND mom& dad alike!At Mickey’s Backyard BBQ you’ll be seating at long mess hall style tables with other families to share in the fun. The kids will be invited to hit the dance floor with Mickey, Minnie and friends. While this is considered a Meet & Greet, please note that the Characters do not go table to table as they do at most. Here the Characters will be interacting with everyone as a group in dances and activities of all sorts, plus there are still plenty of opportunities for great shot of the kids out there with Mickey, Minnie and the Gang.
Mickey’s Backyard BBQ is an outdoor event and as such is also a seasonal event typically running from March through December so take in to consideration the weather when planning your meal!
To get to Mickey’s Backyard BBQ, you can take the boat from The Magic Kingdom or one of the Monorail Resorts (Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village, Disney’s Contemporary Resort) to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground. From the other resorts, you can take your resort bus to the ticket & Transportation Center and then catch a bus over to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground. Please be sure to leave yourself at least an hour since traffic for the buses can vary on a daily basis. Also remember that in severe weather such as thunderstorms, the boats will not be allowed to cruise across Bay Lake.
The food is All-You-Can-eat Buffet style, so get your money’s worth and let the kids go up as often as they want!
This is an all-you-care-to-eat BBQ buffet. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Chip and Dale make sporadic appearances to mingle with everyone and pose for photos.
