For the first time in its corporate history, Norwegian Cruise Line is positioning a ship in Hamburg, Germany, for the summer season: the Norwegian Jade. On the heels of recent renovations, the Norwegian Jade presented itself on June 4, 2017, during its arrival in Hamburg with a lap of honor in front of the recently opened Elbphilharmonie concert hall.
From its new homeport, the Norwegian Jade will cruise the Norwegian Fjords, the North Cape, as well as Iceland and the U.K. With the arrival of the Norwegian Jade (2,466 passengers) and the Independence of the Seas (3,634 passengers) on July 12, 2017, more and more large-scale cruise ships from U.S. shipping companies are entering the port of Hamburg.
Hamburg Cruise Days, Europe‘s largest public cruise festival, will be held at the end of summer from September 8 – September 10, 2017. For the sixth time, Hamburg Cruise Days will transform the port of Hamburg into one big stage for the cruise industry. A record number of 10 cruise liners is scheduled to take part in the 2017 Hamburg Cruise Days.
Last month, Norwegian Cruise Line began construction on the new Norwegian Bliss. The third ship in the line’s Breakaway-Plus class, Norwegian Bliss will accommodate 4,000 guests. During its inaugural 2018 summer season, Norwegian Bliss will sail weekly seven-day Alaska cruises each Saturday from the recently expanded Pier 66 Cruise Terminal in Seattle. The custom-built ship will offer guests a wide variety of accommodations, including luxurious suites in The Haven by Norwegian, studio staterooms for solo travelers with virtual ocean views, and new connecting staterooms for large groups and families traveling together. Norwegian Bliss will also have two observation lounges, including one exclusive to guests of The Haven.
