Walt Disney World Advanced Dining Reservations – Do I Need Them?
Many guests to the Walt Disney World Resort, especially first time guests, will ask the question; “Do you need to make Advanced Dining Reservations (ADR’s) at Walt Disney World? or can I just wing it?”
Well, while that choice is always yours to make, the advice from any good travel agent, and guests who frequent Walt Disney World will almost always be: ” We STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you do”.
Remember, guests may begin making Advanced Dining Reservations 180 days prior to arrival, although not required to.
Since The Walt Disney World Resort has a great assortment of table dining experiences to choose from, be warned however that many of the Table Service and Character Meal experiences that allow advanced dining reservations do book up quickly. While most will still take walk ins, be prepared to wait an hour or more, especially at preferred meal times and during the busiest seasons.
If you have a large party (over 5 guests) and/or are celebrating a special occasion, you should definitely make advanced dining reservations.
You can make your dining reservations online using the My Disney Experience site, on your Smartphone using the My Disney Experience app, or by calling (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463.
Remember, If you book a Walt Disney World Resort Vacation Package through Destinations With Character Travel, our agents will make all of your dining reservations (subject to availability of seating) for you for FREE.
Also, another piece of advice if the restaurant you want isn’t available on the date and time you want at the 180 days mark, KEEP TRYING.
Reservations open up all the time due to guests cancelling reservations. You can even continue to try while you are there.
Also remember that when making Advanced Dining Reservations, almost all restaurants will now request a credit card to hold the reservation. They will not charge the card, unless you do not show for your reservation, at which time they will charge you a $25 “No Show” fee.
Some restaurants may charge a fee for cancellations or no shows!
Each restaurant at Walt Disney World Resort maintains its own cancellation policy, so be sure to check the policy when you are making your reservation.
