Carnival Cruise Line has revealed modified itineraries for upcoming cruises aboard the Carnival Liberty and Carnival Valor in wake of a technical issue affecting the former cruise ship.
The issue is only impacting Carnival Liberty’s maximum cruising speed and the cruise line said its technical team is working to resolve it. However in the meantime, the ship will sail adjusted itineraries for the remainder of November before heading into a previously scheduled drydock.
The Carnival Liberty will then reposition to Port Canaveral, Florida, to operate shorter cruises from Central Florida beginning Dec. 15.
The Carnival Valor — Carnival Liberty’s sister ship boasting many of the same accommodations, venues and features — will then operate four and five-day Mexico itineraries from Galveston, Texas, since its currently better equipped to sail at the higher speeds required.
Modifications to Carnival Liberty’s upcoming itineraries will include call cancellations, adjusted departure and arrival times and shipboard account credits.
The Carnival Liberty’s five-day Nov. 14 cruise from Galveston will no longer call in Progreso but will make an overnight stop in Cozumel. The ship will also arrive back in Galveston later in the day Nov. 19.
Meanwhile, Carnival Liberty’s seven-day Nov. 19 cruise will depart at 10 p.m. and include stops in Cozumel and Costa Maya. Scheduled calls in Falmouth, Jamaica and Grand Cayman have been canceled however.
Finally, the ship’s five-day Nov. 26 voyage will not include a call in Progreso. It will make an overnight call in Cozumel and will arrive back in Galveston later in the day Dec. 1.
Guests aboard each of the aforementioned sailings will receive a $50 per person credit to their shipboard accounts and a 25 percent discount on a future Carnival cruise. What’s more, they have the option of canceling for a full refund.
As a result of the transfer, Carnival Valor’s four-day Dec. 11 cruise from Port Canaveral will be shortened to a three-day cruise to allow the ship enough time to get to Galveston. The cruise will still visit Freeport and Nassau, though, and guests will receive a one day pro-rated refund of cruise fare and a $25 per person credit to their shipboard account.
Carnival said it will automatically transfer affected guests’ reservations.
