Norwegian Cruise Line said its newest and largest ship, the Norwegian Escape, will move from Miami to New York starting in the summer of 2018.
The Escape will offer seven-day cruises to Bermuda from April through September. The Norwegian Breakaway, which currently offers that itinerary, will move away from New York for the first time since it debuted in 2013 to spend the summer on nine-day Scandinavia and Russia itineraries from Copenhagen.
In the fall, the Breakaway will return to New York to join the Escape on seven-day itineraries to the Bahamas and Florida for the 2018-19 winter season. The Escape will offer Canada/New England cruises in September; the Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Dawn will also offer Canada/New England itineraries.
Moving the Escape to New York will leave the Norwegian Getaway as Norwegian’s only seven-day Caribbean ship in Miami. The Norwegian Sky will also do four-and five-day cruises from Miami, while 2018-19 Caribbean itineraries will also be offered by the Norwegian Epic from Port Canaveral, the Norwegian Gem from New Orleans, the Norwegian Pearl from Tampa and the Norwegian Dawn from San Juan. The Norwegian Jade will offer 10-day southern Caribbean itineraries from Miami.
In 2018, Norwegian plans to take delivery of the Norwegian Bliss, which will be christened in Seattle where it will spend the summer operating Alaska cruises. Norwegian did not say where the Bliss will sail after it finishes its Alaska season.
