Right now is a good time for budget-conscious consumers to visit Walt Disney World, as the resort has rolled out quite a few freebies and deals in recent months that offer discounts on everything from half price theme park tickets for friends and family todouble-digit markdowns on value, moderate and deluxe hotel rooms for stays this fall.
Though this fall has already proven to be quite an impressive season for deals, there are even more discounts, freebies and more coming to Walt Disney World in September. Perhaps unsurprisingly, many of these limited-time offers are for Walt Disney World annual passholders, but there are a few that can be used by all guests, including one deal that was announced for the summer, but has now been extended for the fall, plus a significant discount on one of Epcot’s most expensive upcharge experiences!
1. Cirque du Soleil introduces two limited-time ticket deals for annual passholders
Walt Disney World annual passholders who want to check out La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil at Disney Springs next week will be able to take advantage of special pricing for specific ticket tiers. For performances taking place between September 18 through the 26th, passholders can enjoy the following special discounted rates:
- $59 plus tax for a Category 3 ticket
- $69 plus tax for a Category 2 ticket
- $85 plus tax for a Category 1 ticket
For guests who would like to see this show a little bit later in the fall, there’s also another limited time deal for annual passholders who have children between the ages of 3 and 9: Between now and December 16th all children’s admissions are half off with the purchase of a (non-discounted) adult ticket.
2. Refillable popcorn deal extended until the end of next month
The refillable, souvenir popcorn bucket deal that was introduced at Walt Disney World this past summer has been extended and will now be available for guests to take advantage of through the end of October. In case you need a refresher, guests can now purchase a special refillable popcorn bucket for $10 with each additional refill costing $1.50 each throughout each guest’s length of stay. However, if you’re heading to the park with your refillable bucket from the summer, be aware that a new fall-inspired design is debuting soon and guests will need to have the new design to be eligible for the discounted refill.
While this deal doesn’t specifically include annual passholders, Cast Members have not been asking about stay length, which makes this a great deal for locals who want to fill up their popcorn buckets again and again at the park this fall as the weather cools down.
3. Ultimate Day at Epcot Food and Wine Festival discount offered for select guests
With the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival set to begin later this week, guests who want to do as much as possible during a single day at this special event with almost no waiting in line may want to book the Ultimate Day at Epcot Food and Wine Festival upcharge experience, which includes the following:
- Celebrity Chef-hosted brunch at the Wonders Retreat at the Festival Center.
- A hosted beverage demonstration featuring acclaimed wines, spirits and craft beers from around the world.
- Reserved seating for a walk-on ride on Frozen Ever After.
- Guided tour of marketplace booths, featuring three of the festival’s most popular pairings.
- Reserved seating for a walk-on ride on Soarin’ Around the World
- A sampling of the Food & Wine Festival’s signature craft beers.
- An additional chef’s pairing.
- Reserved priority seating at the day’s Eat to the Beat concert with a complementary flute of champagne.
- Reserved priority seating for IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth
This special event is quite extensive (it begins at 9:00 AM and lasts all day), and as you might imagine it comes with a premium price to match, costing $399 per guest. However, if you are a DVC Member, Walt Disney World annual passholder, or Chase Disney Visa cardmember, you can save 15% on this experience, bringing the cost down to a slightly more manageable $340 per guest (which isn’t too horrible if you factor in the cost of food, alcohol, etc.). However, it should be noted that park admission is not included in this price.
Because of the extensive nature of this event, it is only offered on the select dates below, and guests must book this experience over the phone by calling (407) WDW-TOUR or (407) 939-8687.
The Ultimate Day at Epcot International Food & Wine Festival dates:
- September 16, 23, & 30
- October 7, 14, 21, & 30
- November 4 & 11
4. Annual passholder free tumbler offered for Food and Wine Festival
According to Disney’s Annual Passholder newsletter, this year will bring another freebie for passholders who visit the 2016 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival three times. However, instead of an etched port wine glass, passholders this year will get the etched tumbler pictured above featuring the passholder logo.
This year’s free offer has also done away with the stamped passport verification system, as Disney has confirmed that they will be scanning MagicBands to verify entry. Each time a guest visits the park during the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, their annual pass or MagicBand will automatically track their attendance. Then, on each guest’s third visit, they can bring a valid photo ID along with their annual pass or MagicBand to Innoventions East (on the opposite side of where last year’s freebie was given out) to claim their free tumbler glass.
Not only will this new policy eliminate frustrated passholders who lost their stamped passports (or forgot to get them stamped in the first place), but it will also help reduce fraud, as each passholder can only redeem a single tumbler glass, and once they’ve gotten a single glass, they won’t be able to get any more (guests returning dozens of times to claim multiple glasses per person last year was a big problem).
Do any of these limited time deals and discounts interest you? Let us know in the comments below which ones you are interested in, and what discounts you think Disney should offer in the future to offset its recent attendance woes.
