Walt Disney World Resorts – Disney’s All Star Sports Resort: A Pleasant Surprise

We are not into sports. Movies and music, yes. This is why we never chose to stay at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort. On our last trip, we decided to extend our stay and All-Star Sports was the best available rate for our budget, so we took it. We were pleasantly surprised with this value resort.

From the moment we walked in for check in up to our check out time, our stay was very pleasant. We went in to try an early check in and see if we could get a room before 3:00. The cast member who took care of us was great and our room was ready (amazingly enough)! We were able to eat breakfast in the food court before going to our room.

Breakfast was good. Our daughter was happy to have Mickey waffles, which are her favorite, and turkey bacon was an option, so that was a double happy surprise for our girl. In our opinion, the food court had plenty of options for everyone and the food was pretty good. Now, pizza for room delivery? Not so much.

After breakfast, we headed to our room. The building was quite far towards the back but we were surprised at the short walk to the lobby and bus stops.

The room was clean and decor was cute. If you have stayed at any of the All-Star Resorts, then imagine the same layout with different decoration. In our room, we had a round table with two chairs, 2 queen beds, one nightstand, a dresser/entertainment center combination, a small fridge, and a safe. The size of the room is perfect for a family of 4. Beds were comfortable and the shower was heavenly (especially after a day at Blizzard Beach).

We were able to spend time in one of the pools and the arcade. The pool is nice and big. So nice that our daughter did not want to leave. There are also activities going on throughout the day around the pool. We got there just in time for bingo, but we were too busy swimming (and doing laundry!). The arcade was pretty cool! At least the giant Pac-Man game and the Pac-Man air hockey game were worth the visit.

The laundry room was ok. We suggest going in before 5:00 pm, otherwise you will be waiting for a washer and a dryer for quite some time. Also, bring a credit card or a debit card to purchase laundry detergent and pay for the washer and dryer. Magic Bands cannot be used in the laundry room.

Buses ran smoothly and ours came right when indicated on the bus schedule board. All-Start Sports is the first stop for the All-Star Resorts when picking up and dropping off. That was nice! This alone made us want to stay there again! We can deal with the sporty theme. It was actually cool!

If you are looking into the value Resorts and tend to disregard the All-Star Sports, we challenge you to give it a try. You just might be pleasantly surprised like we were. And, it’s Disney after all! Sporty or not, the magic is still the same!

Our 11-year old’s opinion about the All-Star Sports:

  • Favorite Thing: The pool
  • Least Favorite Thing: Sports theme
  • Why Stay at The All-Star Sports Again?: The arcade and would like to stay in the surfing theme buildings.
  • On a scale from 1-10 (10 being the best), how do you rate this resort? 8 (because of the theme).
  • Advice from an 11-year old: Visit the arcade and play the Pac-Man air hockey game.
